Queen Elizabeth II passes away at 96

Queen Elizabeth II's record-breaking reign is gone. She was the only monarch most of her subjects had ever known.

At Balmoral Castle, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor passed away on Thursday. She was 96.

Her son King Charles is currently at Balmoral and will travel back to London on Friday.

As broadcasters announce heralds, bells will shortly ring and gun salutes will fire throughout the United Kingdom.

According to officials, Queen Elizabeth II was put under medical observation early on Thursday.

The Queen's Elizabeth II doctors are worried about Her Majesty's health and have advised that she continue receiving medical care.

She caught COVID-19 in February, which she subsequently said left her feeling "extremely fatigued and exhausted."

Charles, 73, is now the monarch of Britain. In June, Elizabeth made an appearance during the Platinum Jubilee celebration of her 70 years in power.
