Mickey Rooney's oldest son Mickey Rooney Jr has died at the age of 77.

One of the first Mouseketeers from 'The Mickey Mouse Club The Mickey Mouse Club', he died in his home on a Saturday on the weekend in Glendal, Arizona.

His long-time friend Paul Petersen - who appeared alongside Mickey Jr on the first season of 'The Mickey Club' - confirmed

The news is on Facebook and in tribute to the Mickey Jr.'s many talents.

He added: "Mickey Rooney, Jr was peacefully gone early this morning, in Arizona.

"For the last several years, he was with and was under his care with Chrissie Brown and her family.

"I first encountered Mickey as the oldest of nine siblings bred by the famous dad when Timmy along with Timmy were recruited by Disney to serve as Mouseketeers in the year 1955.

"Mickey Jr. was tall, and gifted. He could dance, sing, and perform as well as also get in trouble.

"It has been one of my biggest regrets that he did not have the same kind of behavior with his child. Mickey Rooney Junior. Rest in Peace.

The actor's father was the biggest box-office attractor from 1939 until 1941.

Famous for his character in the movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' Mickey Sr died in 2014 at the age of 93.

Mickey Jr and his brother Tim were employed as back-up cast members for ABC's 'The Mickey Mouse Club' on the network in the year 1955.

His first marriage took place in 1972 to his former Playboy Playmate Merci Montello, who's now 72.

He first met Laura Hollander in 1986 and they got married in the same year before he got married to the singer Chrissie in 2004.
