Michele, who starred in the original Spring Awakening cast, will assume the role of Fanny Brice.
Starting Sept. 6, Michele will officially assume the role, while Julie Benko (current standby) will continue to play the role from Aug. 2 through Sept. 4, and Thursdays starting Sept. 8.
Tovah Feldshuh, a Tony nominee and Walking Dead actress, will replace Michele's Glee costar.
Jane Lynch will play Mrs. Brice. Feldshuh, along with Michele, will make their debut in Funny Girl on Sept. 6.
