"CMA Awards Lainey Wilson" leads Nomination

With five nods each, Shane McAnally, Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson, Carly Pearce, and Chris Stapleton trail by a beat.

With six nominations, including album of the year for Sayin' What I'm Thinkin, Lainey Wilson is the leading nominee for the 2022 CMA Awards.

In the history of the CMA Awards, Lainey Wilson is the fourth artist to garner six or more nominations in their first year on the ballot.

Five nominations were given to Shane McAnally, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, and Chris Stapleton.

Wallen has never before been nominated in this category. He filled the position held by Eric Church the previous year.

From 1986–88, two female performers have not been nominated in this category for three years in a row.

McAnally's co-writing credit for "Never Wanted to Be That Girl," a smash for Pearce and McBryde, earned him his tenth nomination for song of the year.

Nashville's Municipal Auditorium hosted the first CMA Awards Banquet and Show in 1967.

Alan Carter is the director, Jon Macks is the chief writer, and Robert Deaton is the executive producer.
