Houston Texans rookie John Metchie III is not likely to play in the NFL this season following his diagnosis of Leukemia.

The wide receiver, 22 announced his diagnosis on Sunday. He stated that he’s in “good spirits” and that the expectation is that he will be able to recover.

“Recently I was diagnosed with APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia), the most curable form of Leukemia,” the doctor said in an announcement.

“I am currently receiving top medical treatment, and am feeling great and am hopeful of making the recovery at some date.”As a consequence of this diagnosis, I’m most likely not be playing football in the coming season. My primary attention will be on my health and recuperation.
