Kemp and Raffensperger will win the Georgia GOP primaries as voters reject Trump’s challengers

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger will defeat Trump-backed primary rivals, CNN projected Tuesday -which is a blow to former President’s attempts to take them to task for refusing to assist him in reversing the presidential election results for 2020.

The demise of those who are denying the election supported by Trump in the Peach State, one of the five states that held primary elections on Tuesday — provides clues as to Republican voters’ determination to reject Trump’s campaign of vanity and move on from his lies regarding the 2020 presidential election.

The Trump-backed candidate for the Republican primary for Georgia attorney general, John Gordon, will be defeated by the incumbent Chris Carr, CNN projects.

Kemp will be facing Democrat Stacey Abrams who did not face a challenger in Tuesday’s primary in an rematch of their 2017 race, in which Abrams narrowly was defeated.

The governor did not make any explicit reference to Trump in his speech to celebrate his victory Tuesday night.

“Even in the middle of a tough primary, conservatives across our state didn’t listen to the noise,” the governor told hundreds of supporters on the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta. “They didn’t get distracted; they knew our record of fighting and winning for hard-working Georgians.”

Kemp acknowledged Perdue the candidate that Trump has enlisted to challenge Trump, for his gracious concession and for his promise to work with him for the sake of keeping the governor’s job in Republican control.

“Everything I said about Brian Kemp was true, but here’s the other thing I said that’s true: He is a much better choice than Stacey Abrams and so we are going to get behind our governor,” Perdue declared Tuesday night. “Let’s take a few hours, lick our wounds, and tomorrow morning, you are going to hear me going to work for Brian Kemp and making damn sure that Stacey Abrams is never governor of Georgia.”

Kemp spent the bulk of his winning speech to criticizing Abrams.

“Tonight, the fight for the soul of our state is to make sure that Stacey Abrams will not be our next governor or next President,” Kemp stated.

Kemp might have laid out the new GOP approach for candidates afflicted by Trump’s ill-feelings. Kemp managed to keep Republican voters on their toes with regard to the conservative policies he’s promoted: from his initial return to Georgia amid the pandemic, through the law he passed that limited mail-in votes as well as his endorsement of the law that allows most Georgians have the right to carry concealed guns without a permit.

A swarm of prominent former and current GOP governors among them Chris Christie of New Jersey and Pete Ricketts of Nebraska, supported Kemp on the campaign trail. In the proxy conflict against Trump as well as the Republican establishment Former Vice-President Mike Pence told Georgians on Monday evening that a vote in favor of Kemp could “send a deafening message all across America that the Republican Party is the party of the future.”

Former Georgia Senator. Saxby Chambliss, a Republican she said those results from the governor’s race demonstrate that Republican people are impressed with Kemp’s achievements during his first term. They also show the limitations of Trump’s influence.

“Georgia Republicans have spoken about how they feel about Trump,” said Chambliss who was a senator for two terms. the Senate.

It was more difficult for Raffensperger to untangle himself from the mania of Trump’s 2020 election due to the notorious call in which the former President requested to have Raffensperger, the Republican Secretary of State “find” enough votes for Raffensperger to be elected to the state. The issue is currently being reported as part of the ongoing Fulton County special grand jury investigation of Trump’s interference in the election.

Trump has backed Rep. Jody Hice, who continues to lie and claim that Trump could have won Georgia in the event that the election was “fair,” for secretary of state.

It was a quiet and peaceful Republican Senate primary was less drama as Trump along with the GOP establishment have long ago unified in support of former football player Herschel Walker. He was elected the night before, CNN projected. As Democratic Senator. Raphael Warnock runs for the full term of six years, Republicans are eyeing the Georgia Senate seats as a crucial selection in their bid to take majority control over the Senate.

For the very first House primary contest between two Democratic incumbents, Rep. Lucy McBath will beat Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District, CNN predicts. McBath is a gun-control activist who switched the district in the 6th District last year, chose to run for the 7th District following the legislature, which is Republican-controlled, redrawn her district to make it more secure red.
