Fantano is a well-known online music critic who runs the YouTube channel The Needle Drop. In fact, The New York Times once referred to him as “The Only Music Critic Who Matters” for people under the age of 25.
Drake, though, is over 25 and doesn’t appear to share the NYT’s viewpoint. “Your being here is a light,” In the first line of his first private Instagram message to Fantano, he said, “And the 1 is cuz you are alive.
There was to come worse. He said, “And you because you somehow wed a black female.” “I’m getting a good vibe about your existence,” I said.
You don’t get Champagne Papi to DM you every day. Fans instantly flocked to social media to express their delight at the unexpected private remarks. His greatest bars in years, as one Twitter user jokingly put it. Someone else had a solid point, “This feels like a fever dream.”
One Twitter user stated, “Drunk DM is true.” Another jeered, “Getting left on reading.” Another funny remark was, “You know for a fact he was crying while typing it.”
Fantano wasn’t the biggest fan of Drake’s seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, which was released in June. He thought the rapper was “falling downhill” on the song. Drake most likely saw the negative review after sending him DMs today. Certified Lover Boy previously received a 3 out of 10 rating from Fantano.
Not only Fantano, but other people have recently taken a shot from Drake. He cracked a few jokes during his speech at Nike HQ, including one that took a quick shot at Tyga.
